Finally, facts for women about the c-section rate at your local hospital. These numbers are from 2008, but are better than nothing, which is what we had before. Thank you, thank you, for compiling and posting. This is so so important. Would you find the best heart hospital if you had heart issues? What about cancer treatment? I am not surprised at the high rates. I moved here from Georgia 7 years ago. I have yet to come across a woman who has gone to the natural end of her pregnancy. ALL have had scheduled births. It would be interesting to see csection rates for doctors or practices.

Unmedicated or ‘natural’ births happen across the nation daily. But also medically managed labor is not isolated just to Tennessee. Doctor’s individual section rates are not public knowledge, as far as I know. You can always ask an individual doctor, and in my experience I’ve received answers such as, ‘you know, along the lines of the national average.’
The idea of induction is very seducing at the end of pregnancy, when everything is sore and you’re completely ready to end the pregnancy journey and meet the child you’ve born for 9 months. Even mothers who may feel only somewhat comfortable with the idea of induction can become much more open to it once they have been told they are ‘postdates’ or ‘overdue’ and their discomfort is becoming overwhelming.
