About Annie
My mom birthed me naturally in a hospital in Columbus, Ohio. I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. After graduating from Princeton High School in Cincinnati, I came to Nashville to attend Belmont University and study music business. Instead I met the man who would become my husband. In 2004 we were wed in Nashville, and in 2006 I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University where I studied business finance, management, and theatre makeup (all fields in which I could help my photographer husband). Our first child, Simon Apollo, was born October 26, 2007. I decided to seek doula certification when my son was about 11 months old. I am passionate about women’s health, and after delivering Simon naturally, in a hospital, I was impassioned about childbirth. I love talking natural family planning, pregnancy, labor, birth and baby rearing. My personal experience with childbirth was wonderful, but, as I think is true for many moms, especially first time moms, there would be a few things I would have changed. By serving as a doula I will help moms be at peace with their decisions, and make the best possible decisions for themselves and their babies. I am certified as a labor support professional (LSP) through the Academy of Certified Birth Educators (ACBE). I am a Certified Doula through DONA International.
Outside of assisting Josh with our wedding business, taking care of the home and Simon-rearing, I enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing, playing piano, journaling, consignment sale shopping, and meeting and encouraging women in their child-rearing years.
